Within 7 Days – Using Social Media the Right Way

July 30, 20252 min read

By now you’ve made the first move. But staying visible means staying engaged—and that’s where the 7-day window comes in.

The Goal: Signal That You’re Not Just a Contact—You’re a Connector

This step isn’t about pitching. It’s about proximity. If your follow-up game ends at a thank-you email, you’re likely to be forgotten.

Within 7 days, you want to:

  • Show up in their feed

  • Add value indirectly

  • Keep the conversation warm

Your Tools: LinkedIn (and Friends)

LinkedIn is usually the best platform for this step, especially for professionals and service providers. But if your contact is more active on Instagram, Facebook, or even YouTube—go where they are.

Here are 3 ways to engage smartly:

1. Connect With a Personal Note

“Great meeting you last week—looking forward to staying connected here!”

This makes the connection real and respectful.

2. Engage With Their Content

  • Like or comment on a recent post

  • Share something they posted if relevant to your audience

This isn’t fake flattery. It’s about signaling interest and presence.

3. Light Drip Through Your Own Content

  • Post something relevant and tag them (if appropriate)

  • Share a resource that aligns with your chat

  • Mention a tool or topic you discussed in your meeting

Example: “Had a great conversation about small business systems recently—here’s one of the tools we talked about…”

Subtle Wins:

  • You’re building familiarity without inbox clutter

  • You’re giving them a sense of your voice, values, and expertise

  • You’re laying the groundwork for future alignment

Remember: You’re not just in someone’s CRM—you’re in their scroll. And that’s often where the decision to reconnect starts.

NYCK Coaching Insight: Build a Drip, Not a Flood

I’ve coached dozens of professionals who were told to “post every day” or “DM everyone you meet.” That’s a fast track to burnout—and invisibility. What works? A focused, respectful drip. I’ve used this 7-day step to deepen relationships and spark unexpected referrals—all by being human, not pushy.
